STUART HENSON received an Eric Gregory Award in 1979.   Since then he has published six collections—two with Peterloo Poets and the rest with Shoestring Press.  They are all represented in his latest book The Way You Know It, New & Selected Poems from which he’ll be reading.   His poems have appeared in a number of anthologies including Oxford Poets 2002,  Staying Alive (Bloodaxe) and The Poetry Pharmacy (Penguin/Particular).  He has also published stage adaptations of Ian Serraillier’s The Silver Sword and John Steinbeck’s The Pearl  (Heinemann Educational) and a picture book, Who Can Tell? illustrated by Wayne Anderson (Hutchinson Children’s Books).

Hilary Davies has published four collections of poetry from Enitharmon: the latest, Exile and the Kingdom, was published in November 2016. She is also a translator, essayist and critic. Hilary has won an Eric Gregory award, been a Hawthornden Fellow and served as Chairman of the Poetry Society of Great Britain. She is currently a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the British Library. She reviews regularly for the Times Literary Supplement, PN Reviewand The Tablet.

Katharine Towers was born in London and now lives in Derbyshire with her family. She has published two poetry collections, both with Picador. The Floating Man (2010) won the Seamus Heaney Centre Prize and was shortlisted for the Jerwood-Aldeburgh First Collection Prize and for the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry.  A poem from the collection ‘The Way We Go’ appeared as a Poem on the Underground and was also set to music by the composer Laura Stevens. Her second collection The Remedies (2016) was shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize. Katharine’s poems have been broadcast on Radio 3 and Radio 4 and have appeared in several anthologies, as well as in The Guardian, Poetry Review and Poetry London. From 2016 – 2018 Katharine was Poet in Residence at the Cloud Appreciation Society.

John Greening’s awards include the Bridport Prize and a Cholmondeley. He has been a TLS reviewer since the 90s and has judged many competitions and awards, including the Eric Gregory. His many books include the 2013 Carcanet collection To the War Poets and several studies of poetry and poets (Ted Hughes, Edward Thomas, Thomas Hardy, Elizabethan Love Poets). His edition of Edmund Blunden’s war memoir Undertones of War was published by Oxford in 2015, along with a classical music anthology, Accompanied Voices. Recent publications are Heath (a collaboration with Penelope Shuttle), his Egypt memoir Threading a Dream, and a new edition of Geoffrey Grigson’s poetry. A fine press limited edition sequence of sonnets, Achill Island Tagebuch, appeared from Red Fox Press in February 2019. His next full collection, The Silence, features a 700-line poem about Sibelius and will have just come out from Carcanet in time for this reading.
